ELI faculty member appointed as TESOL 2022 Convention local co-chair

The English Language Institute (ELI) is pleased to announce that one of our faculty members, Suzanne Meyer, has been appointed by the TESOL International Association to serve as one of three local co-chairs of the TESOL International Convention 2022.  She will be joined by two other co-chairs, Linh Phung (Chatham University) and Ying Zhang (Robert Morris University).  They were nominated by the regional affiliate, Three Rivers TESOL, to take on responsibilities that include recruitment of volunteers and support of volunteer teams for the convention, which is attended by more than 6,000 participants, presenters, and exhibitors. In addition, ELI Associate Director, Rob Mucklo, and ELI administrative faculty member Heather McNaught have been appointed Local Team Leaders.

Hosting this international convention in Pittsburgh will provide a unique opportunity to showcase the University of Pittsburgh to conference attendees from around the world.  We look forward to strategizing how we can leverage this event to highlight the ELI and Department of Linguistics in particular as well as connect with attending alumni, potentially strengthening our alumni network and developing fundraising avenues.
