The link below will take you to a central University of Pittsburgh donation page. After you've proceeded to page two, simply select “Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences” from the drop-down menu. Then check the box that says "Other" and type in "Department of Linguistics" to give to the department's general fund. To give to a particular fund, specify its name as well, as in "Department of Linguistics, Henderson Endowment Fund," "Department of Linguistics, Graduate Student Research Fund," or "Department of Linguistics, Computational Linguistics Fund."

You may send your check via postal mail to the Department of Linguistics, care of the department administrator Allison Thompson. Please make your check payable to the "University of Pittsburgh" and include a note saying you would like to give to the Department of Linguistics, and to any of the specific funds above, if applicable.

  • Robert T. Henderson Endowment Fund, founded in memory of the late Language Media Center Director Dr. Robert Henderson. Scholarships from this fund are given annually to several Master's students working in the field of TESOL (Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages).
  • Graduate Student Research Fund in Linguistics, founded in 2018 by Dr John F. Lane. This fund supports general graduate student research and travel.
  • Computational Linguistics Fund supports research and conference travel for undergraduate students interested in this field.
  • The English Language Institute (ELI) Development Fund enables the ELI to create scholarships and awards for ELI students; enhance existing programs and create other new and innovative programs for English language learners; implement the latest technology for language teaching and learning in our classes; and pursue other Institute initiatives that will attract both a diverse student population and talented instructors.
